Thanks D,
This book looks really interesting. My man and I were just talking about that very thing this morning. Before you can attract and choose the right partner for yourself, I believe you have to know yourself extremely well and to accept that self unconditionally. You need to know who you really are, what you want, what you need, your values, the things you can be flexible on and the things you won't compromise on, the things and people that make you happy and the things and people that make you sad....all sorts of things!
The lucky ones are those who have a balanced upbringing and are exposed to good role models who give them both the freedom to find their own identity as well as the guidance we all need when young. For those of us who've been abused or neglected in any way, and that's sadly large numbers of women, it's a much longer and more difficult journey to self realization.
And from there we can journey to the next step...finding and nurturing the love we all seem to seek so passionately, if sometimes misguidedly. My own view is that many, if not all the spiritual traditions, contain role models of virtuous women and instruction on how to become one, despite the fact that many of these traditions don't manifest a respect for women in our day to day reality. I'm certain our Maker, however we name Him/Her intended for human beings to be equally regarded, respected and cherished.
Love and light, Mel
