Hello Ladies...
I am curious how many of you or your daughters have read any or all of the Twilight publications?

I don't plan to read them, but I have a friend and a romantic interest who loves it. As far as I kinow, how is this OK for teenage girls to read this?
From criticism I've heard that it's abstinence propaganda or anti-woman as the Romantic heroine who can't live without the hero (I mean, literary speaking, there's a pretty big bridge between what from Romanticism you can revive in modern day literature without making it look ridiculous!) oh excuse me the vampire.
Yeah, and then there's the option that it's just bad and nothing more of a movie for models-turned-actors to act completely terrible in. But where does the Harry Potter generation go to next after the last movie is made? Unfortunately this.
But I think I know where you're going with the overall thought of the post, D, the story is very anti-feminine. Women should never wait around for a man for God knows how many years -- I've read the synopsis and that's enough for me.

Hey B
Thank you for your genuine and honest thoughts. My daughter of 23 and many of her friends read all of the publications to date and they were all infected by the vampire fantasy more than anything. I use the word infected because from what I have been reading in other reviews...it seems to be nothing more than just that. A vampire romance of the year 2009 which draws the reader into a fantasy of want and desire.
My question is why are these young girls from the age of 8 and up being allowed to read this book?
It has been said that..."oh..they do not understand the connotations of sexual desires that older girls do".
HMMMM....so does that mean that young children can read porn because they do not interpret words as older girls do???
B...I think the author is trying to revive what was once known as the awe in Vampire lust more than anything else and because it is coming form a time when women were stuck in the back room so to speak...she has kept the same structure.
My problem is more that it is being exposed as a book for all ages. That was where my question stemmed from.
Now I watched the movie that is out at my daughters and it is rated pg13...so as far as nudity and swearing go...it was well censored.
But the movie is a far cry from depicting what the words in the book do.
I am going to read it...as soon as I get a chance and then I will be able you give my own thoughts on the book. Another reason for my interest is that this book is making millions of dollars at our young girls expense.
