Good day to all of you fine ladies!!! Well I made it through the first fathers day without my dad
The confusing thing for me was that all through my visit back home and the funeral....I was perfectly fine. I felt bad for all the rest of my family and helped ease their loss. Last week with all of the Father's day advertisements going on....I realized it was making me feel very anxious and uncomfortable. Needless to say, Fathers Day hit me like a brick and a half.
Now this is not a sad story....its positive...because I realized that I did not take the time for myself and allow myself to feel his loss when he died. It was almost too surreal for me. It did however become a reality when it was celebrated everywhere. I took off on my kayak and I hung out in the mangroves with the dolphins and spent a few hours remembering his smile and his crazy sayings. MY dad always had the shortest but moist effective sayings.
SO I have found my balance and that is a psoitive and a good thing. We must all learn to deal with loss and tragedy. To pretend it is not there or is not happening only delays it and really cheats us out of a good quality of life.
ONWARD & UPWARD I GO!!!!!!! HUggzzzzzzzz~D~

Oh D, How did I miss this? I knew that it would sneak up on you!!! We can only be strong for so long and then we have to let out the pain, frustration, anger and any other emotion we have OUT! I have never had a father so I can not imagine what you are feeling. I'd like to say that your pain is over now, but it probably isn't. Something I do when I miss my loved ones who have left this earth (after I cry a bit for Val) is think of them doing their favorite things in heaven with the ones that they have missed for so many years. And I am confident that when my time comes those loved ones will be waiting to welcome me! Your father can see what you have done for all of us with this site. He can really see what a wonderful woman you are and he is proud of you! Love, Val
